Remember Who We Are - The Heart of Sacred River Way
Why Sacred River Way Exists
In 2025, my heart broke watching the world unfold. Our Latinx communities were under assault — people disappearing, children left without parents, fear spreading through neighborhoods already carrying ancestral wounds. The pain hit deep, but it wasn’t just grief — it was outrage at the injustice my people were enduring.
One day, in my backyard, my heart was heavy. I was crying out to God, begging for light, for healing, for goodness to return to this world. And in that moment, I felt something profound — a voice that wasn’t just my own. It was the voice of my ancestors saying, “Remember. Remember who you are.”
Those words stopped the tears on my face.
I didn’t understand them then, but I knew this was not just comfort — it was a calling.
I made a promise in my prayer:
If there is something for me to do, show me what that is.
What unfolded was a journey of remembering. I began studying and learning with my beautiful sister, Dr. Rocio, whose teachings about collective healing transformed my understanding of what it means to heal together.
And through prayer, ancestral guidance, and inner work, a clear purpose emerged:
Create a community where those seeking healing can finally find support, spiritual awakening, and connection to ancestral wisdom.
That is how Sacred River Way was born — not just as a space on the internet, but as a living, breathing circle rooted in ancient roots and contemporary need.
My Path to Remembering Who I Am
After launching Sacred River Way, my journey of remembering continued. I took a DNA test to understand more about my heritage, and the results revealed an ancestral tapestry deeper than I had imagined — Cherokee-admixed, Alaska Athabascan, and through a coca reading with Don Raul Apaza, connected to the Mexica legacy.
Don Raul confirmed what my ancestors had whispered:
I come from a long line of curanderas and sobadores — healers.
And that I carry the gift of healing within me, if I choose to walk that path.
So here I am today — not separate from my ancestors, but walking with them.
Learning, remembering, and reclaiming the medicine of my lineage.
Standing firm, not in silence, but in resolve.
Our ancestors have lived on this land for over 15,000 years, and we will not go quietly into a world that seeks to erase the sacred, the ancestral, the spirit of our people.
This is how I take my stand against the great injustice of our time —
Through remembrance, healing, and connection.
This is Sacred River Way.
